The Six Step Plan

There are six basic stages in the Accelerated Learning program. They can easily be remembered through the use of the acronym MASTER

1

MIND

-

You need to be in a resourceful state of mind. That means being relaxed confident and motivated. If you are feeling stressed or lack belief in yourself, you won't learn well.

2

ACQUIRE the information

-

You need to acquire and absorb the information in the way best suited to your personal learning style.

3

SEARCH the material

-

You need to fully explore the learning material. There's a big difference between knowing something and truly understanding it.

4

TRIGGER the memory

-

You need to make sure that the subject matter is locked into your long-term memory so it can be recalled when required.

5

EXHIBIT (show you know)

-

You need to test your understanding of what you've learned. One of the very best ways of proving it to yourself is by demonstrating it to others.

6

REVIEW

-

You need to reflect on the learning experience - not just what you learned, but how you learned. And how to incorporate that learning into your life.

This systematic approach to learning how-to-learn can achieve dramatic improvements in the classroom.

"In August 1995, the year group involved in the student workshop received their results. The performance of the students who achieved G.C.S.E.'s at grades A to C improved by 300%."
Ian Millward, Principle Education Psychologist,
Newham, London, England.
